The challenge

A large teaching hospital approached Digibee with a challenge: it needed to integrate its new proprietary e-learning platform with its identity management (IDM) solution.

The hospital internally developed a learning tool that provides courses, videos, tutorials, and infographics to help further their employees’ professional careers and skills development. The project had been scoped by another integration provider with a completion target of 2 months; the project finally stalled after several delays over the course of 5 months. Because Digibee had been successful in integrating other IT projects for the company, it turned to Digibee to solve this challenge.

Central challenges included:

• The new e-learning system created a much larger set of end points, adding complexity that needed to be accounted for in the integration
• The first contracted provider indicated that it would deliver the project in two months, but after five months they were unable to move forward

The Objective

The main objectives included:

• Update the company’s e-learning tool to integrate information about its employees from the IDM system to its e-learning platform
• Reduce time to delivery and project cost
• Eliminate system redundancies
• Ensure security

The solution

This organization was already a Digibee integration user, and was now trusting Digibee to integrate its new e-learning tool to the identity management (IDM) system that houses sensitive employee information. In order to accomplish the task Digibee would need to rebuild the hospital’s integration platform and simplify a very complex process. According to the organization, “we already had a working platform, but we decided to update the tool.”

Digibee’s Jonathas Castro talks about the challenge. “There are a few ways the customer can use Digibee’s enterprise iPaaS platform. In this case, the IDM system needed to access our platform. So, we exposed an API so it could send all the information that we would pass to the consumer.”

The results

Despite the previous partner stalling the project after 5 months, Digibee completed the integration in less than 2 months
