More than 70% of companies intend to adopt, supplement or replace their integration technology by 2023, according to the Digibee report.
Digibee’s 2023 State of Enterprise Integration report reveals new year-over-year insights and perspectives from technology leaders and executives on the importance of enterprise integration for North American companies.
WESTON, Fla., April 25, 2023 — Digibee, an enterprise integration platform as a service (iPaaS) company that helps organizations build flexible, highly scalable integration architecture, today published its second annual report Digibee Enterprise Status Integration Report 2023. The report provides new insights and comparative data from the 2022 survey to help quantify the progression of enterprise integration as a business-critical technology.
Digibee’s research was developed in partnership with research firm CensusWide and is based on a survey of more than 1,000 CIOs, CTOs, developers, and enterprise architects based in the United States and Canada. The fieldwork was conducted between February 7, 2023, and February 20, 2023.

The Digibee Enterprise Integration Report 2023 reflects a widening gap between organizations already leveraging iPaaS and those falling behind due to reliance on outdated integration technology, such as in-house, on-premises, and legacy systems. Unable to innovate quickly, these organizations face increasing challenges, including system downtime, expanding IT backlogs, and inadequate resources.
Enterprise integration is a top priority in 2023, with most companies actively planning to adopt, supplement, or replace their integration technology
In the 2022 report, we asked a subset of respondents—those who had not yet implemented integration—whether they had a specific integration technology in mind in their planning. 94% said they did not.
On the other hand, the 2023 results reflect a market that is rapidly advancing in the adoption of enterprise integration, with 71% of respondents actively planning to implement the technology in 2023.
“Once a business integration strategy is implemented, the company is able to achieve significant and meaningful economic efficiencies across the operation that benefit the business.”
– -Peter Kreslins, CTO and Founder of Digibee
“Once an enterprise integration strategy is implemented, the enterprise is able to achieve significant and meaningful economic efficiencies across the entire operation that benefit the business,” said Peter Kreslins, CTO and founder of Digibee. “For example, integrations that enable innovation now take weeks instead of months. Valuable projects languishing in the IT backlog can finally move forward. And much of the IT integration budget previously spent on maintenance and training – more than 35% – is redirected to higher-value work.”
Business disruptions due to downtime during integration implementation have increased significantly
In the 2022 survey, 57% of companies reported significant, impactful, and higher-than-expected downtime. In 2023, that increased to 79%.
While many companies are moving quickly to execute their integration strategies, organizations hampered by non-cloud-native technology lack the agility to respond quickly. Downtime is expected to continue to increase year over year across a shrinking pool of companies that must address these internal hurdles.
Whether unexpected or planned, downtime continues to cost businesses significant time and money. Many organizations, especially those without an integration strategy in place, are already overwhelmed. Disruptions like downtime not only add to this imbalance, but also negatively impact profitability and customer experience.
The report includes additional data points and contextual insights, including a ranked list of the top objectives driving integration projects, the amount of time required to implement a standard integration, the percentage of IT budget dedicated to integration, and more.
