The Challenge
A retail company operating worldwide with more than 4,200 stores in more than 80 countries and 10,000 employees, including: USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Spain, United Arab Emirates, India, and Mexico faced the daunting challenge of integrating a POS system in Brazil to the enterprise’s central ERP in China.
The company needed to integrate their POS system used in all of its stores in Brazil with the global SAP ERP deployment in China. This decision was made because a localized ERP deployment was not sufficiently addressing the local tax laws and regulations; since that localized installment wasn’t working well they decided to connect to the organization’s central systems.
Central challenges included:
- Fully understanding the local commerce requirements and integrating with the China-based ERP
- Accounting for the Chinese government controls over all technological communications entering the country
- Significant language and time-zone differences
The Objective
Implement the integration of the POS system of all retail stores in Brazil with the ERP SAP ECC of the parent company, in China.
The Plan
The Digibee Integration Platform and the work of the Digibee onboarding helped solve a complicated set of issues with amazing speed. Without Digibee, the organization would need to build a complex set of integrations of various vendors’ technologies while also navigating the complexities that come with working internationally. The technical complexity was daunting enough. Factor in the geographic, language and regulatory concerns and this was a major headache.
Digibee implemented the communication between the POS and corporate SAP through the PI/PO modules. The communication between the two systems was a two-way street; in some cases, data was brought from the SAP into the POS, and in other cases, data from the system in Brazil was entered into the SAP. The integrations include product prices, vendors’ information, tax slips, products, and sales receipts.
Deliveries were made in stages. On average, five pipelines were built and delivered a week, resulting in 20 integrations in just 4 weeks.
The Outcome
The retailer now has speed and constant monitoring, all embedded in Digibee’s enterprise iPaaS platform. Digibee effectively delivered several results:
- Project delivered in just 4 weeks — remarkable given all the challenges
- 20,000 different SKUs (with Brazilian prices and taxes) accounted for
- 500,000 tax slips processed a month
- 10,000 invoices processed a month
After this successful first set of integrations, the company had the proof of concept it needed – and understood the power of the reusability and scalability of the Digibee platform. They immediately entered into a new agreement to make more integrations between its e-commerce activity and the online sales platforms.
