Dog-mom, party-planner, travel-enthusiast, and experimental chef all in one friendly package! Meet our People Analyst, Mariana Stankovic, and read about her corner of the Digibee world.
Why Digibee?
Mariana was looking for the right professional fit and hadn’t quite found it when she saw an opportunity arise at Digibee. She already had professional connections with some members of the People Team and knew it would be a “wonderful team to work with.” What further piqued her interest was seeing that Digibee had a spectacular product that she immediately recognized as “something that every company needs.” Now, 10 months in at Digibee, Mariana feels she’s found the place she was looking for.
Life at Digibee
Since childhood, Mariana has loved event-planning. She finds satisfaction in the organizing and management of the details. During our conversation it was also immediately clear to me that she is an engaging communicator. When she described her role at Digibee – managing internal events, focusing on employee communication and engagement, and developing our onboarding process – it sounded to me like the role was a natural, perfect fit for her.
Mariana’s degree in psychology has been incredibly valuable to her work. The curriculum was eye-opening and she said it was “so interesting to learn and understand how different people think.” Having that context has helped her “communicate with people, deal with difficult situations, and help people stay engaged.” She is fascinated by differences in culture, history, backgrounds, and experiences. It’s essential in her role to communicate with people every day and she finds having the opportunity to connect at various touch points in a person’s professional journey “very rewarding.”
Digibee is a global company, spread out across regions, time zones, in both offices and remotely, and with different languages. That presents many challenges to overcome. Mariana feels Digibee does a remarkable job prioritizing and promoting communication and collaboration; but as Digibee continues to grow, so will these obstacles, and Digibee will need to remain flexible.
The Future Ahead
If you don’t mind a quick throwback to the band, Timbuk 3, “the future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades!” Mariana is excited about the future of Digibee both as a company and for her own professional journey. My interpretation from Mariana, is that the “special sauce” is having an exceptional, universal product led by an amazing leadership team. She values that our C-level and leadership are not only dedicated and engaged in every aspect of the company, but how rare it is that they are also visible and accessible to everyone.
Digibee is growing faster every day and we are heading toward more and more global opportunities. With growth, comes change. Mariana’s role has recently evolved to include partnering with others on the People Team to further develop our onboarding process. She is looking forward to this challenge and making an impact on new employees as they are introduced to the company. And while it’s uncertain, as Mariana heads into this next phase, she is also encouraged because she feels that Digibee sets its people up for success by allowing “the space to grow, and the opportunity to learn and change.”
Balancing Work & Life at Digibee
Now here’s the part where I wish the interview was in person – Mariana loves to cook and does so almost every day! It would’ve been an even better conversation if it was shared over some fabulous dinner (I’m just saying). She’s an experimental chef, not really using recipes, always trying different ingredients and variations. The secret to her culinary success is that she “cooks from the heart” (though I’m sure butter helps).
Mariana’s other passions include dogs, decorating, and travel. She’s the proud “mom” to two snuggly fur babies, Zeca, the Pomeranian and Cisco, the Chihuahua. She has a “healthy” Pinterest addiction that she uses to inspire ideas for decorating and planning events. She also travels whenever possible. I asked if she’d been to the United States and laughed when she told me she’d been to New York City in January! As she’s a resident of the warmer climate of São Paulo, I couldn’t imagine how jarring her experience must’ve been to be in NYC during the frigid winter months!
I feel incredibly fortunate to keep meeting fascinating individuals like Mariana that make Digibee a better place to work.
